Overview
The National Credit Union Foundation (more commonly known as “The Foundation”) is the charitable arm of the U.S. credit union movement. It works to ignite passion and improve financial well-being, inspire credit unions to leverage their cooperative values, and respond quickly when disaster strikes.
Walking the Talk
According to The Foundation, 72% of Americans are considered “financially unhealthy.” Its three strategic pillars—Ignite, Inspire, and Respond—aim to change that. A primary goal of the website redesign was to articulate those three pillars and to visually demonstrate the impact The Foundation has made over the last several decades.
The homepage features prominently displayed impact numbers, and subtle animations on the site’s new Impact page bring together what The Foundation likes to call “the head and the heart”—not just the numbers, but the individuals and stories that are behind them.
Bringing it All Together
The Foundation has numerous resources and programs around financial well-being, including Biz Kid$ (Financial Health for Kids), Development Education (DE) program, and access to disaster relief funds through their CUAid program. Our challenge was to display this vast array of resources in a way that is easy to find.
By implementing clear, intuitive navigation on both desktop and mobile, and by turning The Foundation’s blog into a more usable resource, we helped visitors access a robust, complex array of information, relevant to their specific needs.
The Main Event(s)
The National Credit Union Foundation is able to create impact in the credit union community with a little help from its friends. The Herb Wegner Memorial Awards annual dinner, one of its main events, celebrates the achievements of industry leaders.
There is a massive amount of information to convey on single page, from highlighting winners to recognizing sponsors to outlining event details. A “sticky” navigation breaks the page into distinct categories so that visitors can directly scroll to the relevant section of the page, and then easily access other sections as needed.
